Caution: This article contains profanity

Well, thank you for taking your time to visit my profile. You’re here because I’ve read your work, I gave you applause, and I left you a response. But, would you please don’t give me a clap if you’re not reding my sh*ts? You’re highlighting sh*ts that other people already highlighted.

Every writer on Medium watches stats, and I do too. How come you’ve highlighted and clapped on my two articles all in just a minute? How can a piece have five reads with ten fans? Ten people clapped on my stories, and only five people read my stories.

How can you spend $5 a month on Medium if you’re not going to read other people’s works? How can you be a “writer” if you’re not reading?

I’ve seen this happens many times. I need to brutally say this because I don’t think it’s acceptable on my part. I don’t think it’s a good idea to return the favor of me giving you applause and a response. If you’re not reading my stories, don’t give me a clap, and don’t highlight my sh*ts because I don’t need that. I don’t need you to blow up my notification!

I need you to read my stories, and I know that you wouldn’t like everything I wrote, and if you don’t want anything that I’ve published, leave it. Could you not give me a clap or anything? I’ve read your stories because I liked them, and I don’t need you to return a favor I gave you.

I read stories on Medium, not for the sake of getting the claps and responses back. I’ve read stories on medium because I have subscriptions, and I do pay annually. I’m not going to waste my money for not reading stories on Medium.
